Project- UQ Marketing & Communication

Designer - O'Neill Architecture

Photographer - Angus Martin Photography

Year - 2023

This refurbishment of the top floor of the modernist J.D. Story building, designed by O'Neill Architecture, revitalises UQ Marketing and Communications' workplace, offering a fresh perspective on the planning arrangement of a linear floorplate. The integration of acoustic lighting and products such as Linea, illi, and Vapor Echo Cylinder enhances the space's functionality and ambiance.

Retaining the original materials of the 1950s building, these were reinterpreted with a soft overlay of acoustic treatments incorporated into the furniture, lighting, and panel systems. The use of acoustic elements, including the carefully selected lighting products, creates a dynamic, layered experience as you move through the space. This layering is further enhanced by intricate timber detailing, contributing to a warm, crafted atmosphere for the workforce.
